What is overlay welding?
Overlay welding or “cladding” as it is also called, is the process of welding metals to other metals that have been damaged due to natural or unnatural causes. This can include such as corrosion, sand or metal wearing down surfaces. This happens a great deal in the gas and oil industry both onshore, and offshore. It is extremely important to have all pipes in working order, which is why overlay welding is used.
What Type of Overlay welding machine do you need?
The 6000 automatic roller overlaying machine can do open arc welding, submerged arc surfacing, swing surfacing, and more. Everything is automatically controlled to eliminate errors. The maximum chuck distance is 1200mm, maximum clamp diameter 400mm, with a maximum loading weight of 1500kg. The oscillating width is H (mm) 6, 5-50mm, with a speed of 0.1-3.5M/min.
The Inner Wall pipe overlay welding machine is used for spiral swing welding, spiral, and straight welding. It is an easy to use machine that only takes two days of training for anyone to master. It is equipped with a special welding torch and welding cable that helps with the resistance of the wire feeding at the gun at 6 meters. The specifics of this machine are as follows. Welding length is 6000 mm, Welding inner is >= D150-1500. Welding outer is >= D170-1600, Wire diameter is 1.6/2.4/2.8/, and the Maximum load is 5.0T. The clamping pipe diameter is from 120mm to 800mm, and can be customized larger if needed, where the maximum welding length is 6 meters.
More necessary materials.
The Chromium carbide overlay plate, or wearing plate, is a valuable piece. It is an extra hard clad steel plate made with additives applied with highly abrasive resistant welded overlay. It is useful for resistance to wear by abrasion, fretting, cavitation, and particle erosion in high-temperature applications that are up to 1100°F. It is designed for moderate to severe impact abrasion. The wear plate available from SOHO, is 30 times more resistant than the 16Mn plate.
This plate can cold forming bend, and can make it bigger than 300 mm diameter pipe, or according to customers’ drawings. Transverse cracks happen naturally on the plate, because of stress release, however, it has no effect on the project you are working on. Hardness on the plate can reach to HRc 56~HRc62 for proper wear. It can be used to bend, cut, and weld. The plate specifications can be from 10-18 mm, with an overlay of 4-8mm, with an HRC (hardiness) of 54-62.

It is mainly used for outside, and inside tubing walls, and axis surface hardening surfacing. It is another simple machine that is fully automatic, and convenient maintenance as well. It has a capacity of 2 tons, revolving speed of 05-1rpm, revolving motor power: 5kw, welding trolley speed of 35-35mm/min, welding trolley power is 750W, and the gantry elevating speed is 500mm/min.
